Step 1: Diagnosing the Fault

Before buying parts, you need to be sure the element is the problem.

  1. Safety First: Unplug the cooker or switch it off at the wall.

  2. Access: Remove the back shroud (the metal plate inside the oven covering the fan). It’s usually held by 4 screws.

  3. The Continuity Test: Use your multimeter set to Ohms (Resistance).

    • Place the probes on the two terminals of the element.

    • Good Element: Should read between 20Ω and 30Ω.

    • Bad Element: Will show "1" or "OL" (Open Loop), meaning the internal wire has snapped.

Step 2: How to Replace the Element

If your element failed the test, here is how to swap it:

  • Remove the Wires: Carefully pull the spade connectors off the element terminals. (Take a photo first so you don't forget where they go!)

  • Unscrew: There are usually two screws holding the element to the back of the oven cavity.

  • The Swap: Pull the old element out and slide the new one in.

  • Reconnect: Screw the new element in and reattach the wires firmly.
