When troubleshooting fails and you’ve determined the "brain" of the oven is faulty, it’s time for a transplant. Removing the timer unit and PCB is a straightforward process, provided you stay organized and document the connections.
The Removal Process
While every model differs slightly, the general steps for accessing the control board are consistent:
Remove the Knobs: Most control knobs pull straight off the front facia panel.
Unscrew the Facia: Usually, two to four screws hold the main front panel in place. Once removed, the panel should tilt forward or lift away.
Document the Wiring: Crucial Step. Before disconnecting any wires from the PCB, take a high-resolution photo or label each wire with masking tape. Miswiring a new board can lead to a short circuit or "fried" components.
Extract the Unit: The timer/LCD assembly is typically screwed directly into the back of the metal facia or held in place by plastic clips.
Repair vs. Replace
Once the board is out, you have two choices:
The Component Repair: If you have soldering skills, you can test and replace individual resistors, capacitors, or relays (as covered in the previous post).
The Full Swap: For most DIYers, replacing the entire module is the safest and most reliable way to get the oven back in service.
